Health Education & Promotion provides the El Paso Community with awareness, resources, and preventative services to encourage, develop, and sustain healthy lifestyles.
Provide educational presentations to the public on the following topics:
Get Real About Tobacco: a tobacco awareness and prevention curriculum for grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. This is a multiple lesson curriculum. Depending on the time available, most schools will receive at least 4 lessons. There is also a parent lesson available to assist parents in sharing tobacco information with their children.
Tobacco Exposed: a new curriculum that offers schools a single lesson opportunity. The lessons are in line with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills in Health Education. The lessons are adapted to various grade levels such as Kinder through 2nd grade, 3rd grade through 5th grade, middle school and high school.
The Health Education and Promotion Division conducts the FOCUS El Paso Program in the Woman, Infants, and Children (WIC) clinics and community agencies in El Paso to prevent unplanned and repeat pregnancies, births, and sexually transmitted diseases in young women 24 years of age and younger. The FOCUS program consists of classes for young women that discuss contraception use, risky behavior such as alcohol use, self-esteem, and sexually transmitted disease prevention. The program is primarily for women 24 years of age and younger that are high-risk, who are pregnant, already have a child, and are lower income or homeless. Women who participate in the classes and complete the program will receive incentives for themselves and their children.

The M Factor is El Paso's premier social network for gay and bisexual men. The goal of the MPowerment program (M-Factor) is to reduce the rates of unprotected sex and the spread of HIV among young gay/bi-sexual men by fostering connections among men to build positive social connections and promote safer sex practices. The M Factor is housed in The Factory located at 1505 E. Missouri Ave.
