PROGRAMS - ENERGY EFFICIENCY

 

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program was created to assist state, local, and tribal governments in implementing strategies to:

Additional purposes of the EECBG program were to spur economic growth and create and/or retain jobs under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The program provided over $2.7 billion in formula grants to U.S. states, territories, local governments, and Indian tribes.

The City of El Paso was allocated $5,802,700 through the EECBG program, and these funds were used for the following programs:

1. Energy efficiency retrofits $3,000,000
2. Landfill gas recovery system $820,000
3. Green fleet fund $556,000
4. Appliance rebate program $275,000
5. Solar demonstration project $250,000
6. Recycling outreach $194,000
7. Solar photovoltaic power system $177,000
8. Virtual meeting room $181,000
9. Aztec Pavilion $182,000
10. Big Belly Solar Trash Cans $424,000
