Dear Applicant,
Thank you for expressing interest in the El Paso Fire Department’s Summer Youth Camp.  We are excited to offer this opportunity for local youth to gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the El Paso Fire Department.  Participants will gain valuable life skills such as problem solving and team building by taking part in lessons and activities related to the job of a firefighter.  This camp will enable young people to learn and spread important safety concepts and messages as advocates for the El Paso Fire Department.
The El Paso Fire Department Summer Youth Camp is open to interested youth between the ages of 13 to 17 years old.  Attendance will be limited to 25 attendees that will be selected by their suitability as determined by information contained in the attached application. The deadline to submit applications is Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Applications should be submitted to the El Paso Fire Department Training Academy located at 6800 Delta Dr. inside Ascarate Park, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or faxed to (915) 775-7312.

Camp activities are highly interactive and hands-on in nature.  Participants will work together in pairs and teams that emphasize the importance of cooperation and contribution to achieve success.  Camper safety is paramount and explicit rules are followed due to the nature and setting of the activities they will take part in.  Campers should be prepared to engage in physical activity.  This will require them to wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes, sandals will not be allowed.  Outdoor activities will require sunscreen and proper hydration as this training will occur during the summer!

Summer Youth Camp activities will be held at the El Paso Fire Department’s Training Academy located at 6800 Delta Drive. The Summer Youth Camp will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 22nd – 24th and is FREE to all eligible participants. Meals ARE NOT provided so each person will be required to bring a sack lunch each day.

We are pleased that you are considering this unique opportunity to support your child’s interest in fire and life safety.  We hope to be able to enhance their awareness and knowledge in a fun and educational manner.
Please contact Captain Adrian Santana at 915-775-7305 if you have any questions or concerns.
