Responsible pet ownership is not only essential to the well-being of your pet, but it's also the law. Title 7 of the El Paso City Code outlines requirements for animal welfare in the City, including the registration, vaccination and microchipping of your dog, cat or ferret. Also, making sure that your dog or cat is spayed or neutered helps prevent unwanted or surprise litters of puppies or kittens. Take a minute to remember that your pets should always have adequate food, plenty of fresh water, and suitable shelter where they can go to stay out of the sun, wind, rain or cold weather. The following documents have been provided to help residents be more aware of the basics of responsible pet ownership. Help spread the word by sharing with other pet owners, and with as many children as possible. The younger they learn about being a good pet owner, the better!
