The Environmental Services Department is responsible for providing a wide range of services to the residents of El Paso. They include: garbage and curbside recycling collections, landfill operations, animal services programs, air quality monitoring, and code compliance enforcement among other services to help keep our community clean and beautiful.

Memorial Day Holiday Schedule for Collections, Landfill and Drop-off Sites

The Memorial Day holiday will impact some solid waste operations for the City of El Paso Environmental Services Department.

The Memorial Day holiday will not impact trash and recyclable collections. Residents will have garbage and recycling collection on their scheduled collection day.

The Greater El Paso Landfill will be closed on Monday, May 27^th in observance of the holiday. The landfill will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, May 28^th. The landfill, at 2300 Darrington Road, is normally open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The Citizen Collection Stations will be closed on Monday, May 27^th as part of their normal schedule. The drop-off sites will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday, May 28^th. The sites are regularly open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and are located at: 121 Atlantic, 4200 Delta, 2492 Harrison, 4501 Hondo Pass and 1034 Pendale.

Paint Reuse Program

The City of El Paso Environmental Services Department offers free paint to the public at all Citizen Collection Stations.

The program is designed to redistribute old paint for use in neighborhoods as a means to protect our environment by keeping it out of the landfill.

Community Tool Sheds

The City of El Paso Environmental Services Department has community tool sheds available to residents who are in need of tools to keep their yards clean and maintained.

The sheds are stocked with a wide variety of clean-up tools such as rakes, shovels, hoes, shears, hand cultivators and push mowers and wheel barrows.

Residents interested in borrowing tools must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid ID at the time of check out. The lending period is five days.

The tool sheds are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and are located at the department’s Citizen Collections Stations at:

• 2492 Harrison
• 1034 Pendale
• 4501 Hondo Pass (entrance on Stahala)
• 4200 Delta
• 121 Atlantic.
