Residents of several Upper Valley neighborhoods will have to detour around the
intersection of Country Club Road and Montoya beginning on Monday. The closures are needed to accommodate underground utility and storm drain work as part of the complete reconstruction of the roadway.
IMPACT TO LOCAL TRAFFIC
Country Club Road is presently closed to all traffic between Montoya and Love Road. Starting on Monday September 29, 2014, the intersection of Country Club Road and Montoya Road will close as well. Local traffic will be able to travel eastbound on Country Club as far as Columbine Street; Local traffic will be able to travel westbound beginning at Willow Creek Drive.
IMPACT TO THRU TRAFFIC
While some parts of the road are open to local traffic, thru traffic is reminded to continue using the following detours routes:
For decades, Country Club Road has served as key thoroughfare linking the Upper Valley and Westside. However, increasing traffic and aging utility infrastructure have necessitated re-construction of the busy two-lane road.
When it’s completed, this project will improve traffic flow on Country Club Road by adding a center two-way left turn lane, adding a traffic circle at Memory Lane, and adding right turn lanes at Montoya Road. Another reason this project needs to be done now is to accommodate the replacement of gas, water, and sewer utilities. The length of the project runs from Doniphan Drive to River Run Street.
Completion is expected in early 2015.
